NEWS UPDATES

Connections Choir tour a Great Success in Australia

Sizwe, who took the reigns as CEO from November 2006 to June 2007 while Joe was in the USA, has been involved with a successful tour to raise funds for World Changers Academy (WCA) in Australia, with WCA's partner, The Oaktree Foundation.  The choir, which is from the Valley of 1000 Hills, where WCA first started, blew audiences away with its many performances across Australia.  Sizwe spoke at almost all the events on behalf of World Changers Academy, and people were very generous in giving towards the work of the organization, which will be channeled through WCA's ongoing funding partnership with The Oaktree Foundation.  Sizwe was also able to connect with a number of key leaders across the country, including politicians, business leaders and other people of influence.

World Changers Academy is in the Midst of a Major Restructuring Process

WCA is going through a major restructuring process. The board appointed an external person, Mveli Diko, who has many years experience with business and NGOs, to do an organizational audit.  The focus of the audit where WCA's weaknesses and threats, and Mveli brought out many issues that WCA needs to address for it to be the effective agent of change in South Africa that it can, and should, be.  The board is currently going through a restructuring process, the executive of the organization has already changed around significantly, with Joe taking over as CEO, even while in the USA, with Sizwe as President, Adney Cross as Programmes Manager, and Msizi Gumede as Acting Operations Manager.  WCA is actively seeking to find a skilled and experienced person to hire as its Operations Manager.  Programmes were put on hold for a couple of months during June and July while this restructuring process has taken place.  During this time, the staff were involved in giving input to the process and going through training to be able to produce higher quality and consistent programmes.  We'll keep you posted on the outcomes.
